Artist Statement

Art allows me to express myself and be creative. Pablo Picassoo said, "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." I agree with this statement because I feel like art can be a way to escape from our ordinary lives and a way to express our soul. Especially is school art classes where I can do work I actually enjoy, instead of just what my teacher wants. Although I don't inted to pursue a career in art, I still consider is a verry important part of my life.

I am currently taking photography in school, but have taken studio art and drawing and painting. My favorite project we worked on was the studio shoot and the low light shoot. I feel like they were my best work. I enjoy photographing portraits the most which is why I liked the studio shoot. I also enjoyed the low light project and was really happy with how it came out. I thought the style of using a low shutter speed to show movment was really interetsing and fun to shoot. Before taking this class I never used film photography or a darkroom before, but I really enjoyed it. I like being able to develop in different ways and how I can control how the image comes out by changing the exposure time or using a filter.

I have many influences in my art. I get inspiration from other people's artwork. Whenever we get a new project, I look it up to get inspiration from other works by famous artists. I also like looking at the work of previous students or of my classmates to help me get inspired. I also get inspired by things in my life every day, such as my friends and family. My experiences with them or something they say or do can give me inspiration for picture.
